The Neurosurgery Surgical Research Lab on White
5 (WHT-539) has available a number of resources available for use by all of the
Neurosurgery Staff and Residents and Fellows. Multimedia
Support: To assist in the preparation
for lectures, posters and presentations there are variety of resources:
- Computers: networked systems with
a variety of software packages including Office97/2000 and Adobe PhotoShop, etc..
- Scanning: an HP ScanJet 4c with
transparency adapter for scanning images (MR, CT, prints) and text (with OCR software).
- Slides: a LaserGraphics LFRplus
slide maker for both 35mm slides and color prints.
- Printing:
a Kodak ColorEase printer for printing photographic images.
- Disk
Drives: Zip disk, Optical disk and CD-Recordable drives.
- Modems:
PPP and PPTP dial-Up access accounts for connections from home systems to access
departmental and network resources.
- Photography:
camera & copy stand with CCD camera for image grab of samples.
- Internet Services: servers for web systems,
web hosting, listservers, e-mail systems, web forums and bulletin boards. Collaborative
data systems for databases, and image archiving.

Research Support: The Neurosurgery Surgical
Laboratories are available for use by all Investigators in Neurosurgery. Depending
upon schedule, the facilities are also available for use by outside investigators.
There are facilities for minor and major, acute and survival surgery. Some of
the equipment available includes: - Anesthesia
systems for injectable and inhalation anesthesia.
- Monitors
for direct and indirect BP, temperature, pulse oximetry, end-tidal-CO2, EKG are
available.
- Fluoroscopy and X-Ray
systems for device placement and angiography.
- Mobile
systems for support of procedures at fixed imaging systems; CT, MR and PET.
- Templates
for preparation of research protocols.
- Case
Planning software for CT, MR and PET image analysis and fusion.
There
