The Molecular Neuro-Oncology Laboratory (MNOL) is a shared environment of over 2000 square feet and is made up of three laboratory groups. In addition to general bench space within this area, there are three rooms specifically designed for cell culture work, one room containing equipment for tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry, a dark room, and a separate room for handling of radionuclides. The MNOL is located in the Neuroscience Center at Massachusetts General Hospital which offers tremendous potential for interactions and collaborations with other investigators within the Center studying a broad spectrum of neuroscience related topics. Library facilities containing all the major scientific journals are conveniently located two floors down from the MNOL. Although the three laboratory groups within the MNOL have their own specific lines of investigation, there are a number of overlapping interests. Because of these common interests, the MNOL functions as a unit where research personnel collaborate with one another, have common journal clubs, and share in intellectual creativity and growth. The 14 research personnel within the MNOL include medical students, residents, fellows, post-docs and technicians. Opportunities to attend regularly scheduled research seminars are numerous and include seminars sponsored by the Neuroscience Center, the MGH Cancer Center, and the Cutaneous Biology and Cardiovascular Research Centers.
